Planet

Earth has been humanity’s home for millions of years, but we are far from being its only inhabitants. It has also been hosting the life of thousands of other species, as the only planet in the known universe confirmed to support life. Our survival as a living, breathing ecosystem relies on our capacity to resiliently cooperate with each other to keep our shared home healthy and thriving. However, instead of practicing our most valuable human values towards our surroundings, such as compassion, empathy, and care, we have been taken away by a strong focus on our sense of self, led by an extractivist mindset that has been deeply damaging our environment. Nature has been reacting fiercely to the way we are conducting our lives, through extreme weather events and a series of environmental crisis that make undeniably clear that it is losing its capacity to regenerate. What changes need to be made in our current lifestyles to give back to nature what we have taken away? How can we restore the planet’s capacity to regenerate and provide a safe home for all?
