World Leaders Confirmed for Estoril Conferences: Re-Humanize Our World

The highly anticipated Estoril Conferences, renowned for fostering intellectual discourse and inspiring positive action, is set to take place on September 1st and 2nd at Nova SBE’s Carcavelos Campus. Under the overarching theme “Re-Humanize Our World,” this year’s conference will bring together a stellar lineup of global leaders, who will exchange experiences and engage in thought-provoking discussions. Esteemed speakers and experts from diverse fields will explore crucial topics that revolve around the pillars of Planet, Peace, Policies, People, and Health.

The recent wave of confirmations includes Maya Gabeira, Fola David, Eldar Shafir, and Luís Cabral, each making valuable contributions within their respective domains. As one of Brazil’s most influential female professional surfers, Maya Gabeira will participate in the panel dedicated to the theme of PLANET. Drawing from her remarkable athletic achievements and passionate initiatives in ocean protection and conservation, Gabeira will share her experiences, shedding light on the significance of preserving the planet’s natural resources. Her presence will complement an already esteemed lineup of speakers, including Sir Richard Roberts (Nobel Laureate in Medicine 1993), Sameera Chukkapalli (Obama Foundation), Erden Eruç (solo circumnavigator powered by human motive force), and João de Macedo (co-founder of the Save The Waves Coalition and renowned giant wave surfer).

Fola David, a prominent dermatologist-artist from Nigeria, will contribute to the PEOPLE and HEALTH panel. With an unwavering commitment to merging health and creativity, David’s expertise and artistic prowess have earned him acclaim as one of Nigeria’s most esteemed speed paint artists. Through his foundation, the Fola David Care Foundation, he actively collaborates with communities of children, fostering creative projects that enhance their well-being.

Eldar Shafir, an accomplished psychologist and Professor of Behavioural Sciences at Princeton University, will engage with attendees under the theme of PEOPLE and HEALTH. Known for his insightful publications and exceptional communication skills, Shafir will delve into the impact of scarcity on cognitive abilities—a topic he extensively explores in his book “Scarcity: Why Having Too Little Means So Much!” Having previously served on Barack Obama’s advisory council on financial capability, Shafir brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the conference.

Joining Maya Gabeira, Fola David, and Eldar Shafir will be an impressive lineup of nine additional international experts, providing further depth to the PEOPLE and HEALTH theme. This esteemed group includes Karim R. Lakhani (Harvard Business School), Anindya Ghose (NYU Stern School of Business), Jo Røislien (University of Stavanger), Klara Jelinkova (Harvard University), Nelly Enwerem-Bromsom (Women in Global Health), Ricardo Gil da Costa (Neuroverse), Zohray Talib (George Washington University), Aaron Ciechanover (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 2004), and Alexandra Palt (L’Oreal Foundation).

Luís Cabral, the esteemed Paganelli-Bull Professor of Economics at NYU Stern School of Business, will represent Portugal on the panel dedicated to POLICY. Drawing on his extensive research on innovation, platforms, and reputation in the media and entertainment industries, Cabral will provide unique insights into the discussion. Joining him will be Danilo Turk (Club de Madrid President and Former President of Slovenia) and Cristina Duarte (Advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General for Africa, Cape Verde), further enriching the policy-focused dialogue.

The Estoril Conferences will also welcome Gerard Ryle, Pulitzer Prize winner in 2017, who will contribute to the conversations on the vital theme of PEACE. Ryle’s presence promises to add an invaluable perspective to the conference, stimulating thoughtful reflections and robust debates.

As the anticipation grows, we solidify our position as a global platform for intellectual exchange, inspiring positive action, and envisioning a re-humanized world. With an extraordinary roster of world leaders and experts, the conference aims to ignite educated and enlightened consciences, shaping a brighter future for all.
