Founded by Rajendra Pachauri, the POP – Protect Our Planet movement is “is an initiative designed to address the urgent need to share information and knowledge with youth on solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by the UN, mitigate climate change and adapt to its growing impacts.”

The POP movement is a local answer to a declared global challenge. During his visit to Cascais, Rajendra Pachauri and Ash Pachauri visited four schools of Cascais, in order to present the movement to the youth of Cascais and to encourage them to create a “POP nucleus” in their schools.

Once launched, the POP movement will promote knowledge and solution sharing among this nucleus, so they can truly become responsible for changing the world.

St. Julian’s School, St. Dominic’s School, Ibn Mucana and Escola Secundária 2/3 de Alvide, were the schools visited.

According to Rajendra Pachauri, the ultimate goal is for the POP movement to be able to reach a global scale, with youngsters from all over the world committed in the fight against climate change.
