Edward Snowden, Nigel Farage or Sérgio Moro are some of the names confirmed. Today, during the Press Preview organized by the Cascais Municipality, the first ten names to be present during the next edition of the Estoril Conferences that will have as its main theme ‘Global Migration: Leaving Home in a Globalized World’.

The ten speakers announced were:

António Di Pietro: Politician and Italian Prosecutor in the ‘Mani Pulite’ case.

Baltasar Gárzon: Jurist known for his intense activity in human rights matters. He is the current leader of the legal defense team of Julian Assange.

Carlos Alexandre: Judge

Edward Snowden: Former C.I.A. and N.S.A. agent, internationally renowned for his leaks about massive-surveillance systems in the U.S.A. and Europe.

Lora Pappa: Activist and founder of METAdrasi NGO. Winner of the North-South prize by the Council of Europe in 2015.

Nigel Farage: British politician and former leader of the UKIP party, he is extremely critic of the current European policies in the field of migration. He was an active defender of the ‘Brexit’ and one of its main voices.

Oliver Stone: World renowned film director and producer. He is the author of several films regarding political themes such as Platoon, JFK, Born on the 4th of July e Snowden.

Sergio Moro: Federal judge, writer and university professor.

Sofana Dahlan: Lawyer and activist; named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Susan Martin: Academic and university professor, and Presented with the awarded for scientific excellency in International Migration by the Center of Migration Studies in New York in 2016.


The 5th edition of the Estoril Conferences will take place between the 29th-31st of May 2017 and we will be announcing, during the next few months, the other speakers that will take this global discussion.
