Francis Fukuyama is Senior Fellow at Stanford University's Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. He was Professor of International Political Economy at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University and was a member of the Policy Planning Staff of the U.S. Department of State, specializing first in Middle East affairs and then as Deputy Director for European political-military affairs.

In 2011 he was speaker at the Estoril Conferences in the panel "The global impact of Current Events in the Middle East situation" (May,5th).
