Alberto Alemanno is a Professor of Law (European Union, EU Affairs and Global Risk Regulation) at HEC Paris. He regularly provides advice to a variety of NGOs and governments across the world as well as international organizations, such as the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the World Health Organisation (WHO). He considers himself to be an Academic, a Citizen Lobbyist and Civic Entrepreneur. 

Over the past few years, he launched several social ventures that aimed to foster new avenues of engagement with the policy process. With these ventures, Professor Alemanno wants to inspire and train a new generation of engaged academics, social advocates, reformers, activists and citizen lobbyists across Europe and beyond.

He founded and is CEO of ‘eLabEurope’, which aims to bridge the gap between academic research and policy in Europe; founded and is the scientific director of the Summer Academy in Global Food Law & Policy.; and co-founded ‘The Good Lobby’, a skill-sharing platform connecting academics, lawyers and other professionals with non-profits and civic groups in need of advice. 

Alemanno is also the founder and editor of the European Journal of Risk Regulation and serves on the editorial boards of the Revue du Droit de l’Union Européenne and ‘Risk Analysis: An International Journal’.
