Manuel Aranda da Silva is Senior Advisor and Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs and Resource Development Department at the World Food Programme. Between 2004 and 2007 he was Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Sudan, and as the head of the UN country team, he led the response to the humanitarian crisis in Darfur and the recovery and development efforts in the areas covered by the Comprehensive Peace Agreement North / South.
