Today, our world confronts an array of challenges that have no simple solutions.
We are currently experiencing a transformative period in history, marked by significant shifts and challenges. Wars and armed conflicts are on the rise, surpassing even the tumultuous period of World War II. Additionally, the imminent arrival of more elections and geopolitical changes coincides with a profound demographic transition, with 2024 marking the year when the population over 65 exceeds that under 18. Meanwhile, as Technology and AI advance rapidly, environmental degradation has reached alarming levels, with six out of nine planetary boundaries already breached.
Under the main theme “Time to ReThink”, the 9th Edition of the Estoril Conferences will provide the stage for an intergenerational dialogue, bringing together people from all corners of the globe, to discuss humanity’s most pressing challenges.
